Just a quick update. We are in Atlanta, GA and flying out for Haiti in the morning at 8:15am. The kids in Haiti are anxiously waiting and are very excited about our arrival. Most of our 250 pounds of luggage is for them. People were gracious and donated clothing for them, and we have purchased shoes for all of them as well.
We are very excited that this day has finally arrived. As I sit here writing this, my mind has drifted back to my first mission trip with Pastor Ronnie Hepperly and Steve Hepperly. I remember the anticipation of seeing another country for the first time and the excitement of what the Lord would do. It has been about 10 years ago and several countries later since then. This time, when we get off the plane, it will be for a while before we get to see the United States again.(90 days to be exact) But, the Lord is still in control today just as He was back then. We know there will be hardships and joys, hurdles and triumphs, trials and victories in the days ahead, but no matter what happens, the Gospel is worth it and Jesus is always enough.
Many of you have graciously supported us in getting here, and we are humbled and very thankful for all of you. We have walked by faith for a while now, but from this point forward, we are dependent upon the Lord to move on your heart in supporting us. Below is a list of what is still needed to get us completely set up and our monthly budget to reach 100%. We also know that a lot of the pledges we received will come in once we are on the field tomorrow.
Our Needs:
We still need 7 monthly sponsors for the children in the orphange. It is only $1 a day or $30 a month to sponsor a child.
We also need monthly sponsors for the general ministry fund. This can be done at any amount you choose. This will cover our supplies such as housing, communication, diesel, gasoline, food, water, electricity, food distribution, and other ministry costs.
We are also still needing part of our one-time set up expenses. This will cover things like beds for us and the 15 children, a stove, a refrigerator, our truck, furniture for the home and for the orphanage, ect.
