First, thanks to all of our supporters. We understand many of you are facing hard times in the States. At the same time, there are many ministries in Haiti closing up shop and moving back home. Many of those that remain have cut back on ministry and trimmed their budgets. During this time of sifting, God has given us the grace to press on for more souls and save more children from the slums and filth of City Soleil. We are determined not to cut back but to press on with the Gospel. Your sacrificial giving has gone into good ground and is showing the promise of a great harvest. This has been a great month on the mission field of Haiti.
Below is the list of what your giving has produced since October!
~ Prepared and served 2,435 meals
~ Orphanage grew from 14 to 19 children
~ Over 3,500 people heard the message of sin and salvation
~ 650 came to faith, approximately
~ The church has grown from 33 to over 100 in attendance
~ Hosted our first team from the States
~ Birthed a ministry in City Soleil
~ Birthed “The Reach 100,000 Haitian’s” Campaign
~ Added partners from New York, Canada, Texas, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and Oklahoma
As we set here writing this and looking back over the past month, we are amazed at what the Lord has done. He has shown us His faithfulness once again.
The Children Added This Month
Lynnette (age 10), Esterlynn (age 5), Blanca (age 3), Marie Flores (age 14), and Gregison (age 4) are children that have been rescued from sickness, disease, poverty, and possible death. Esterlynn is a very special child to us. Our good friend, Diddi from Canada, brought her back from her village, Dini. She was extremely sick and almost dead when she arrived. Diddi immediately took her to the hospital where she stayed a week. She was extremely malnourished and underweight. She had quit eating and starvation had already begun. After a week in the hospital, Esterlynn came back to our house to recoup until she was able to return to her village. However, with healthy meals and some love, she has become a new child! She is full of energy now and eats all the time. At first, she wanted to go back to her village, but the next day, her grandfather showed up at our gate saying she wanted to come back. She has been here ever since. We love having her here too. She definitely has a lot of personality to be such a little girl! She is only five years old and is starting to be a child again. She loves to jump rope and play pretend with the other little kids. She has no problem expressing her opinion on any subject and loves to watch movies! We know Esterlynn wouldn’t be here today if Diddi hadn’t brought her out of her village and into our home. To see the Lord at work through such a young child is indescribable. The Lord has spared her life, and we are excited to see the plans God has for her! Thank you because your support allowed us to be here for her!
The Children’s Needs
As most of you know, we had an accident that happened when two of our children fell into the well after being in Haiti only a few weeks. When this happened, it drained much of our finances, specifically our education fund.
Our current child sponsorship program at $30/month covers food, clothing, medical expenses, housing and most of the necessities for the children, but it is not enough to cover their schooling. Outside of food and housing, their school is the most expensive item on our budget.
Starting immediately, we are offering an EDUCATION SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM. This will cover the cost of uniforms, books, and school tuition.
Their are 2 ways to get involved in the education of the children.
Monthly Education Sponsorship at $15 per child / click here to start
Yearly Education Sponsorship at $180 per child / click here to start
If someone is interested in sponsoring all of our 19 children for the year, the total cost is $3,420 USD. Click here to Donate
Feeding The Poor
Jesus said, “I was hungry and you fed me.” With many Haitian’s dying of starvation each year, God has allowed us to help some of them. We have fed 2,435 meals this month with a dream of feeding many more.
Recently, Abraham and I went into City Soleil to take pictures of the homes where most of our kids lived. We took pictures of their homes, their former living conditions, and their lives before moving into our home. Most of you will be stunned by the situation; words simply can’t describe it. We are working on a video that we will send you soon to show the extreme conditions which the children of this area live in everyday. We are not exaggerating by telling you these kids eat from the garbage, play in the garbage, and literally live in the garbage. With the help of the Lord and you, we will reach this community, especially since many of our children come from there.
The situation in this city is very extreme on all sides: poverty, little to no education, crime, gangs, kidnapping, ect. The United Nations in 2004 described it as, “The worlds most dangerous city”. It has since calmed down a lot. There are many thousands of people who live in City Soleil, but we have chosen a small area to focus on for ministry.
Our desire is to operate a food distribution center out of a Church in the heart of this desperate city. We have received funding to distribute approximately 800 meals per month which will cover 4 days of each month. If you have a desire to get involved in feeding the poor of City Soliel, please let us know. We can be your hands extended to this dying city.
Evangelism and Church planting (Reach 100,000 Haitian’s Campaign)
We dedicate two days a week to take a group out for evangelism. In addition to our normal outreach, this month, we had a team of two men come in from the Tennessee. We did evangelism everyday and had a powerful time in the Lord. Many souls were saved, and thousands heard the Gospel.
The Lord has been working in our midst and within our hearts. While showing the Jesus film to over 500 people a few nights ago, the Lord began to deal with my heart about reaching Haiti. Of course our goal has been to reach as many Haitian people as possible, but I began to think about reaching a specific number.
Something the Lord has taught me over the last fews years is that I have no control over how many people respond to the Gospel, but I do have control over the number of people that hear the Gospel! With that in mind, we are not presenting you with a new vision but a new campaign: The REACH 100K campaign. We are setting a goal of reaching 100,000 Haitian people with the Jesus film. Notice, there is nothing about how many respond to the Gospel: this goal is about how many HEAR the gospel. Yes, we will give an invitation and clear presentation of the Gospel, but it is up to the Lord who receives and who doesn’t. Our job is to deliver the true Gospel!
The School of Ministry for Haitians
The first school is going great. The people are learning two days a week and applying what they learn each Saturday when they all go out to do evangelism.
God has given us an open door in a village called Dini. This is a remote area that has been controlled by voodoo for a long time. We have been working with DaySprings Ministry Church in this area doing evangelism. We recently had 74 people come to Jesus in this area. The pastor has asked us to start a Bible Training School out of his church. He currently has 5o people wanting to attend for 4 hours each Saturday. Our future plans are to kick this off in January, 2010! Please keep this in prayer.
Teams are Welcome
December 12-19, 2009 Our Christmas Trip will include many different areas of ministry: working with our kids, helping with our Christmas celebration, helping with our Sunday feeding program, and local village evangelism through showing the Jesus Film, Bible Story-telling, and preaching door-to-door.
January 9-16, 2010 This trip will be focused on evangelism in remote areas and the villages near our house through showing the Jesus Film, Bible Story-telling, and preaching the Gospel door-to-door. We are also planning to set up preaching in the prisons. We would like to have a Vacation Bible School for our children this week as well in our home.
Cost: The total cost of a trip flying in from Atlanta is approximately $800 – $900 per person. If you are interested in joining one of the trips or scheduling a trip of your own, please let us know ASAP by email at reachhaiti@gmail.com
Offering Internships
If you are interested in coming for longer than a one-week trip, we also offer one-month internships. The cost is $500 per month plus your airfare. We are able to facilitate many different fields of ministry for you to work in: Children’s Ministry, Evangelism, Remote Area Outreach, Medical, Leadership Training, Feeding Program, and many more!
Partnerships
God has given us a big vision for this nation, and we know it will never happen unless you partner with us. We need your monthly support today. We have people that partner with us as little as $15 per month to our larger donors as well. Every penny is being used to advance the Gospel here in Haiti and reach the abandoned, sick, and starving children of this nation.
I know many of you have thought about partnering with us, but for whatever reason, you have not done it. We are asking you to start your partnership today by clicking here. In just a couple of minutes, you will be sowing seed into good ground! If you can’t make a monthly commitment, you may make a one-time donation by clicking here. May the Lord bless you.
