Merry Christmas!

Hey everyone! Our Christmas celebration was a huge success! First of all, I want to thank all of our monthly sponsors for your continued support of our kids and the ministry. I also want to thank others who bought or collected Christmas gifts for our kids. I want to say a special thank you to my sister, Heather, who came and spent Christmas with us in Haiti! Without her, our party would not have been so good!

On Christmas day, we started the day with an American breakfast for everyone: fried potatoes and scrambled eggs with hotdogs. Heather, Mike, and I all cooked breakfast for everyone, and the kids loved it! While we were cooking, the kids were watching a tradition in my family, “Christmas Vacation.” Then, Heather and I straightened all 11 girls’ hair so they could be fixed up nice for the party. It took us over 2 hours but we got it done! Then, we sent the kids outside so we could set up the gifts and cook dinner. They waited patiently until we were through, and we brought them back in and sat them all against the wall. They were all SO excited to see big back packs filled with goodies under our little, humble Christmas tree! We gave them their gifts one at a time and then everyone opened them together! It was so much fun! The kids were all so excited about their new stuff! They immediately went to try on their clothes and shoes and play with all those toys! After everyone got dressed, we all sat down to a delicious dinner: pizza pasta lasagna, fresh garlic bread, and salad. Once dinner was over, the kids gathered around as Mike and Wesley read the story of Jesus. Then, Heather and I lit the candles on our cake and we all sang “Happy Birthday” to Jesus! We blew out the candles and ended the night with an awesome cake! Everyone had such a great day! As exhausting as it was, it was such a blessing to give Christmas to so many children who have never really had one before. It couldn’t have been a better day!

We have also added 2 new additions to our family: 8 year old Estevan and 2 year old Jeffison.

Estevan

Estevan

.

Estevan is an orphan whose parents died years ago. He was staying with his aunt and uncle who are very poor and weren’t always very good to him. He is blossoming already and will be starting school in January with the rest of our kids. The other night, we taught him to tie his shoes for the first time. He had never had shoes to tie before. He’s a very sweet little boy with a big heart!

Our other new child, Jeffison, is the younger brother of 3 of our kids: Jenny, Berline, and Doudley. His father, Manice, is our gate man. Their mother died 2 weeks ago and Manice was unable to care for him and work here. So, he will be staying here with us now. He looks so much like his brother, James, who passed away back in September. Please remember this family right now. The kids have been to 2 funerals since September: their younger brother and their mom. They are all doing very well though and are happy!

Again, thank you all so much for helping make such a great experience for our kids! Check out our facebook pages to see all the pictures from the day! God bless you all and hope each of you had a merry Christmas!
