The 2009 Harvest so far…

Since January 2009, Mike and I have been in Haiti twice. We want everyone to watch and pray as the harvest continues to grow! We want to keep you all posted on what the Lord is doing and what he has allowed us to do through Him! So far, this is the harvest that has been birthed. We are expecting these seeds to grow and continue to advance the Kingdom! We are not consumed by typical numbers, but we are consumed with souls! We don’t like to just see people profess salvation but also to plug them into a local church where they can be discipled, trained, and equipped to help advance the Gospel! These are the numbers so far that we have witnessed in Haiti, but we know that this is only the beginning! Continue to pray for these souls and their growth and protection as they are part of God’s Kingdom too!

The Devil CAN’T Live Here Anymore!!

One of the trees where "the devils live"

This is another one of our exciting stories from our recent trip to Haiti. We had hiked out to a village in the Lotsabonite area located in the middle of lots of rice fields. The village wasn’t too welcoming to us. We set up our sound system and screen with intentions of preaching and showing the Jesus Film here.

When we got to the town center, there were two large trees literally growing sideways. They were rooted in the ground in two different places instead of just one. One of our translators began to explain to us that this village believed the devils lived in these trees. Overlooking this spot was also the town’s Voodoo alter. One of the Pastors with us (Naynay) told us that he had tried to share the Gospel to this village one other time. He said the people revolted against him and threatened to cut his head off with their machetes if he didn’t leave. He hasn’t been back since. So, he felt that maybe they would receive from us. We prayed and bound every demonic presence that had a hold on this area to be loosed and broken in Jesus’ name so they could receive the truth of the Gospel!

As the clouds were rolling in behind us, we all prayed against the rain so we could show the film. After some praise and worship and some prayer from Pastor Jacque, Wendell got up and delivered a powerful word from God about salvation and repentence. The people stood cold and calloused against us. They didn’t receive anything that had been said. Right when Wendell was finishing, it began to rain…then pour. Within twenty minutes, there were several inches of water on the ground with no hope of letting up anytime soon. We all piled under bamboo porches to escape the rain but we were all soaked already. The people scattered and fled to their homes. So, we knew it was going to be hard to trek out of this area with the mud and rain. Without any other options, we began the hike back out through the now mud-covered rice fields on a trail about two wide with a steep drop-off on both sides. This was quite amusing. The Haitians thoughts we were just hilarious since we could barely walk without falling and sliding as they literally ran through the mud with ease. Eva’s flip-flops broke and got lost in the mud. Two Haitian women had to help carry her out. Mike and I were holding on to each other as we all laughed the whole way out.

Once we got to the KIA, the roads were too bad to travel, but again, with no other choice, we prayed and took off through the mud down the dirt road back to where we were staying. All I can relate this experience to is four-wheeling through the mud back in east Tennessee. We can just say that the Lord drove the KIA back to the house that night. We got back safely to the church by the grace of God and went to our rooms. The goats were trying to escape the rain by hiding on our doorsteps under the small awning. It was quite entertaining! They also left Eva and I a special present under our door to our room…

The Haitians were still laughing at us! One of them actually took the time to dig Eva’s flip-flops out of the mud and brought them to her, although they were broke and unable to wear at this point. We took some pictures and had a great time in the rain! Then we all went into our rooms to go to bed thinking it was really late. When Wendell checked the time, it was only 7:00pm. Haha!

We found out the next morning that the peole were not happy about our journey to their village. They told Pastor Naynay that the devils left their trees and were physically UNABLE to come back again! Praise God that His power and authority is greater and stronger than ANYTHING the enemy can throw at us! When we take authority in Jesus’ name, the enemy has to submit to that because 1 John 4:4 reminds us that “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

We know the seed was planted in this village and in time, God will bring the harvest out of it! Continue to pray for the truth to be revealed to these people and they repent and turn from their evil ways to salvation in Jesus Chris! Praise God!

Crashing A Voodoo Ceremony

dsc00822Wow! Six of us just returned from an amazing trip to Haiti. Myself (Michael brewer), Andrea Puckett, Eva Rimback, Wendell Redman, Brad Houser, and Doug Frye. We got in around 6am on Sunday morning, May 9th. I will be posting the full results of the entire trip very soon, but I just wanted to share the following story from our journey.

While Eva and Wendell were doing leadership training at a church, Andrea and myself left to do some remote-area evangelism in a nearby village with our Haitian interpreters. When we crossed over a small stream to enter the village, we could feel the atmosphere change around us. We saw a small school made out of coconut leaves and poles. We went in and encouraged the teachers and children to surrender there lives to Jesus. We had 48 children accept Jesus in the school. We also ministered outside to adults who were interested. As we walked on down the small path to visit some homes, we decided to visit the local Voodoo priest at his home/the temple to share the Gospel with him, but he was not there. So we continued down the path. While walking, we heard some singing and chanting nearby. So we went to check it out, and right before us, there were about 35 people in the middle of a Voodoo ceremony with the calm, cold priest sitting there overseeing it all.

As we approach the worshipers, we asked if we were welcome. The priest  said yes and sent for us some chairs. For the next twenty or thirty minutes, we shared the Gospel from Genesis to the resurrection of Jesus with all of them. At the end when we called them to repentance, the Priest asked us to pray for him that God would give him a dream because that is how he hears from the spirits!  We told him we would pray for that and for the Lord to reveal Himself to him. Then they all kneeled down before us, and we laid hands and prayed over the people and bound the spirits that were  blinding their eyes and deceiving them.

We later found out that this Priest was the “top dog” in this area for all the Voodoo. We’re believing God for his repentance and salvation and that all the others will follow his lead. Continue to pray for him; his name is John. God opened up their hearts to receive the message we brought, and we are believing God to continue to work on them and the entire village!
