Welcome to our life with 26 kids!
Here are the bios for all the kids who currently live in our home. Read their stories and learn where they come from!
Blan is from City Soleil and is 4 years old. She has an older brother, Samuel, and an older sister, Lovely, who both also live with us. Her father was killed, but her mother, Mary, lives with us also. She is our dorm mom for the kids and also helps with the cooking and the laundry in our house. Mary owns a small square in the slums of City Soleil where she is trying to build a house, but only has a small stick frame up right now. Blan, her mom, and her siblings were staying with a friend in a very small concrete hut in the slums of City Soleil before they moved in with us. Blan has only been in our house about 2 weeks, but she is a joy! She is always smiling and laughing! She is always trying to sneak upstairs to spend time with Mike and I. She’s a little clumsy girl, but she is also very animated. Blan likes to play with the younger kids with their toy trucks or playing imagination! Sometimes, she is driving a car with a stick or trying to jump rope which she still hasn’t quite mastered.
Birthday: January 21, 2006
Sadrak was born in City Soleil. His doesn’t know his father, but his mother still lives in the slums of City Soleil. He has a younger sister who also lives with us, Renette. He still has a younger brother and a baby sister who live with his mother for now. Sadrak is 13 years old. He is the clown of our house. He’s constantly dancing and singing all the time, even when he’s doing his chores. His favorite song is “Here I Am To Worship” and he’s always singing it! Mike has been teaching the older boys karate and Sadrak loves it! He still is a little goofy with it, but he’s getting better with practice. He can be a little sneaky and mischievous at times by trying to sneak up on others and scare them. Nonetheless, he always keeps things interesting and always keeps us laughing! He’s full of the joy of the Lord and always has a smile on his face! Sadak also loves soccer and dancing.
Birthday: November 5, 1996
Lovely is a very bold 10 year-old girl. She is very direct and matter-of-fact, no beating around the bush. She has a younger brother, Samuel, and a younger sister, Blandyine, who both live with us as well. Her mother, Mary, also lives with us now and is our dorm mom for our kids. She is from City Soleil. Her father was killed and her mother was staying with a friend in a small, concrete shack in the slums of City Soleil. Their family is also very poor. Lovely has always had to look after her younger brother and little sister which is probably why she is so direct. She doesn’t really know how to be a child. She is very motherly with some of the younger kids and can be very nurturing. She also loves to pray and knows the power of prayer. She is very helpful around the house by washing clothes and helping clean. She is always wanting to serve you in any way she can. We are happy she’s here with us now and out of City Soleil.
Birthday November 8, 1999
Edens is such a good helper around the house and is great with the younger ones. He is from City Soleil, and he loves soccer. Edens doesn’t know his father, but his mother still lives in City Soleil. She comes to work for us every Sunday morning to cook for our Sunday Feeding Program. He has been growing in the Lord everyday and also attends our Bible College twice a week. He is our oldest and most mature boy around the house. He is a little goofy at times, but he is also very loving. Edens wants to be a pastor when he grows up! He is becoming a strong and responsible young man of God!
Birthday: November 8, 1995
Crystella is a 13 year old teenage girl who is from City Soleil. She has a younger sister, Mika, who also lives with us and an older sister who still lives with her mother in City Soleil. There were 9 people living in their very small tin shack in the slums of City Soleil including her mother. She doesn’t know who her father is but was told he was killed. Crystella is our most responsible child in the house and is able to go with us a lot because of her maturity. She also comes to our Bible College twice a week in our house. She is a very hard worker. She is constantly wanting to help around the house with chores or laundry and is also a big help with the younger kids. Crystella wants to be a nurse when she grows up.

Mika, is 12 years old and is from City Soleil. Her older sister, Crystella, also lives with us. She still has another older sister who still lives in City Soleil with her mother. Mika is a very well-behaved child and loves to serve. She is always trying to help arounf the house in any way we will let her! She also loves the Lord and wants to be an evangelist in Haiti one day! Although she is quiet and a little shy, Mika is coming out of her shell more and more everyday! She is very thin form malnourishment, but has been growing both in height and weight since she’s been in our home! She’s getting healthier everyday!
Birthday January 31, 1998
Michael is a special, young boy. When we first arrived in Haiti, Michael was extremely anemic, malnourished, and very small for a four-year-old boy weighing only 28 pounds. He sat and stared idly for hours at a time, not playing or running as a young boy should. His mouth is full of black, rotting teeth due to his severe malnourishment. According to the doctor, Michael would not be alive today if we had not taken him in when we did. He was on the verge of death which is sadly the case with thousands of children in Haiti. Now, Michael is running and playing all the time. He doesn’t stop! Michael is a little spoiled now and is a funny little kid! He loves toy trucks and trying to play soccer with the bigger boys. He loves life and is full of joy!
Birthday March 4, 2005

Gregison is a five-year-old little boy who is full of life! His mother was very young and unable to take care of him anymore. He has only been in our home a couple of weeks, but he’s been thriving ever since he moved in! He had a very large belly full of parasites when he first got here, but after some deworming medication, his stomach has gone down tremendously! He seems to feel a lot better! Gregison has quite an imagination! Early in the mornings, Mike and I will wake up to him pretending he’s a loud truck honking and beeping at everyone! He will use a stick for a steering wheel and drive all over our front yard! He also likes music. Gregison likes to turn a bucket upside down and use it for a drum. He’s fit in very well here, and we love having him!

Birthday: December 10, 2004
Esterline is a very special child to us. A good friend brought her back from her village, Dinni. She was extremely sick and almost dead when she arrived. She immediately took her to the hospital where she stayed a week. She was extremely malnourished and underweight. She had quit eating. After a week in the hospital, Esterline came back to our house to recoup until she was able to return to her village. However, with healthy meals, she has become a new child! She is full of energy now and eats all the time. We wanted her to stay, but we left the decision up to her. At first, she wanted to go back to her village, but the next day, her grandfather showed up at our gate saying she wanted to come back. She has been here ever since. Her parents are both still alive but are both very young and unable to care for her. We love having her here! She definitely has a lot of personality to be such a little girl! She is five years old and is starting to be a child again. She loves to jump rope and play pretend with the other little kids. She has no problem expressing her opinion on any subject and loves to watch movies!
Birthday: November 22, 2003
Marie Flores is 15 years old and is from a small, remote village called Dini. She is a relative of Esterlynn and has been in our home since September. Her father died and her mother was trying to care for 7 children. Dini is a very small, remote village and there are little to no opportunities for a better life. Marie Flores is a very sweet young girl and has a true servant’s heart. She is a great help around our house and also helps take care of the younger kids. She is a joy to have in our home, and we are glad to have her! She wants to go to the United States one day and see where we came from.

Birthday February 12, 1995
Wilnise is 8 years old and is from City Soleil. Her mother is alive but her father was killed. Their tin shack in City Soleil housed 11 people including her mother, her grandmother, and her brother. Wilnise is full of joy and loves to smile! When she first arrived in our home, she was unable to use her left arm and walked with a limp. We thought she had had a stroke. We asked her mother what had happened, and over a year ago, Wilnise had fell twice and quit using her arm. We took her to the doctor and found out she had gonorrhea from sexual abuse. With some treatment and some TLC, Wilnise is now able to raise her arm and squeeze her hand for the first time in over a year! She is so excited and is learning slowly how to use her arm again. Wilnise is full of love and is always smiling! We are excited to see her growing both physically and spiritually everyday and can’t wait to see how the Lord uses her in the future!
Birthday June 29, 2001
Samuel is from City Soleil and is 7 years old. He has an older sister, Lovely, and a younger sister, Blanca, who both live with us. His father was killed, but his mother, Mary, just recently moved in with us also. She is our dorm mom for the kids and also helps with the cooking and the laundry in our house. Mary owns a small square in the slums of City Soleil where she is trying to build a house, but only has a small stick frame up right now. Samuel, his mom, and his sisters were staying with a friend in a very small concrete hut in the slums of City Soleil before they moved in with us. Samuel has been learning to fight karate and loves it! He is a very sweet boy but is also very quiet and keeps to himself. He also likes to play ball with the other kids. We have started a game where Mike and I throw a ball down from our balcony and the kids try to throw it back up to us. He loves it! If you would like to sponsor Samuel for $30 a month, please click here.
Birthday: January 12, 2003
Tiga is very special to Mike and I. Many of you know, we had a tragedy right after we first arrived in Haiti. Tiga and another boy, James, both fell down an old abandoned well on our property that we were unaware of. James died in the fall. Tiga, however, survived by the grace of God. He fell at least 30 feet. He had cut his head very badly and had surgery for some internal bleeding. He came back home after only one week in the hospital. He told the doctor and all the hospital that he was alive because of Jesus and he wouldn’t die! He’s such a fighter. Tiga just turned 6 years old and is still very little. He has the biggest eyes of any child I have seen. Tiga is from City Soleil. Both of his parents are still alive, but they are unable to care for him due to severe poverty. Tiga also has a baby sister who still lives in City Soleil. He is very quiet and shy, but he is also a very loving little boy who wants to be held all the time. He has made a full recovery from his fall and is back to being a typical boy. He runs and plays with the other kids now. We know Tiga is a miracle from the Lord. Even his doctor told us that the fall should have killed him. We know God has big plans for his life and that he was spared for a great purpose. We love Tiga and are so happy he lives with us!
Birthday: November 3, 2003
Renette is from City Soleil and her brother, Sadrak, also lives with us. Her mother is alive and lives in the slums but her father was killed. She also has a younger brother and a baby sister, who we are also trying to take in soon. She is 10 years old. You can tell she has never lived off the streets by her actions. She is a very sweet and loving young girl who has had a very hard life. She was covered in scabies when she first got here, but we have her being treated for them now. She has made a quick recovery but still has scars all over her body for not receiving treatment. Renette is definitely a tomboy. She loves to play soccer and will go one-on-one with her brother, Sadrak. She’s very competitive and holds her own with the boys. She has adapted very well to living in our home, but we have had to teach her a lot of basics. Coming from the streets, Renette had never had discipline or clean hygiene. She was very shy when she first moved in, but now, she has become very loving and outgoing!
Birthday: March 29, 1999
This is baby Marilyn. She arrived in our home the morning before the earthquake. She weighed only 14 pounds and is almost 3-years old. We weren’t sure if she was going to live or not. She was severely malnourished and has a disease called Kwaskior’s, a severe protein deficiency. She also was born with a club foot that she was unable to use, therefore she has never walked. Marilyn is a fighter though and has already overcome a lot of odds just to survive. We were able to get her admitted into Saint Damien’s Children’s Hospital in Port au Prince which has been an answered prayer. We just recently learned that she also has tuberculosis. However, she is gaining weight and growing quickly! She has regained enough strength to start raising herself up and is about to start crawling. She doesn’t appear to have permanent damage and is starting to show her personality more and more. She will stay in the hospital for a few months to continue her treatment for TB but then will be back in our home.
Birthday: May 15, 2007

Esteven is an orphan whose parents died years ago. He was staying with his aunt and uncle who are very poor and weren’t always very good to him. They used him as a restavik, or a “child slave” for their family. He is blossoming now though and is a very sweet and loving young man. He is in school for the first time in his life and is doing great, even though he has some catching up to so! During his first week in the hospital, we taught him to tie his shoes for the first time. He had never had shoes to tie before. He’s a very sweet little boy with a big heart!
